Happy New Year 2008!
January 1st, 2008I am taking this opportunity to send out my best wishes to friends, family and all my clients for a truly grand year in 2008. For me, 2007 was a year of tremendous learning and growth of my skills in the art of image-making. I feel like I am creating images that express my own artistic vision more fully than ever, and am very excited to see where that leads me in the future!
Sometimes, people ask me what I like to do with the camera when I'm not working. My answer used to be "Leave the thing in the camera bag!" For the past few years though, I have been rediscovering my love of photography as a purely personal interest. This has been really cool, because it has allowed me to experiment, and discover things I probably never would have discovered in the course of doing photography for my clients. Those new discoveries are finding their way into more and more of the work I do for my clients. Very cool... except I now need to update most of the work on my website!
Coming back to what I like to do with the camera on my day off... Sometimes I DO just leave the thing in the camera bag! Today though, I was inspired to capture my visions of this beautiful New Year's Day, here in Santa Cruz. After taking a walk on the wharf, here is a taste of it...
One of our local treats: fresh crab

It may sound weird, but shooting seagulls is big fun!
